Storm Check Program

Oceans For Youth expects travelers to have a safe travel program as they leave their worries at home. We understand travelers take their personal time seriously.  A named meteorological disturbance can make the seas rough everywhere, adversely affecting valuable dive time. This is why we have a "StormCheck” program in place. This program will compensate travelers who lose days of diving while on the Jardines Aggressor as a result of a named meteorological disturbance.

As part of the Cuba Travel Program, any traveler whose diving is interrupted as a result of a named storm will receive a credit voucher based on the number of days of diving missed in the form of a "StormCheck". If the entire program on the Jardines Aggressor is cancelled in advance due to a storm's predicted path and landfall as forecasted, travelers will automatically receive a "StormCheck" voucher for the total amount of their program on the Jardines Aggressor. "StormCheck"vouchers allow travelers to return to Cuba within one year of the interrupted program to use their credit.

The “StormCheck” program is not a substitute for the purchase of a comprehensive Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance policy. All travelers are strongly encouraged to purchase insurance as it provides financial protections beyond the cruise portion itself and can offer financial assistance for flights, interrupted travels, and cancellations for other covered reasons as well.   It is best to purchase a Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance policy immediately after confirming a reservation for the Cuba Travel Program to maximize the time of the coverage.

Diver Alert Network Announces Insurance Coverage 1/26/2016

Please Note: Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance cannot be purchased once a storm has been named.

“StormCheck” program vouchers apply to travelers who do not receive compensation from their trip insurance carrier.  The “StormCheck” program is specifically for lost days on the Jardines Aggressor and is not issued when the guest is unable to get to the destination due to transportation issues, whether a result of a storm or any other conditions, and the yacht is not affected for the entire program.

While onboard the Jardines Aggressor if weather forecasts or conditions appear threatening to the safety of the travelers and crew, the captain will make necessary arrangements to evacuate travelers. The captain will order and arrange for travelers to be removed from the yacht, accompanied by a guide and taken to an inland resort/hotel or government approved shelter. The vessel will be moved to a sheltered harbor away from the storm's predicted path, prepared and secured by the remaining crew.

The Jardines Aggressor established these storm plans and procedures for the safety and comfort of the travelers.
